Where do I modify the files?

I try to modify the code directly in the portfolio item file.(ex. wp-admin/post.php?post=****)

Where do I modify the files?(I would like to know the name of the folder and file names)

the file responsible for single portfolio item is includes/content-single-portfolio.php

Is it possible in the minimal template to choose the flat portfolio style and then have it to show the title constantly on top of the pictures instead of when just hovering the pictures? Or alternately choose the grid style and then  remove the padding between the pictures?
