sidebar color

Is it possible to make my left sidebar a different color from the background color for the page? I have added some text scrollers and other text widgets and the background color of the sidebar makes it hard to read the texts. Please tell me where I go to make the sidebar color white. The rest of the page colors can remain the same.

Hi, I just made the site live so you can see it but I'm not supposed to--WordPressforLibraries.com is my domain, the site hasn't been moved to the university's server where it will be behind a VPN. If you can look quickly I would appreciate it because I don't want anyone to come across this and think it is official.

Under construction is disabled. Can you please try again? In our last meeting they wanted a section to be colored a different color to indicate that that information changed, while the other content is static.

Ok, thanks. Now it works. However, because the sidebar lies on the content part, it is not possible to change whole it's part. You can only change sidebar's background and this could be done with the following css:

.aside_both .sidebar-1 { background: #000 !important; }

I changed it to a boxed layout and it works just fine--got to tweak the header images a bit but I think the other librarians will like it better this way.

Oh, oh, but if I make the sidebar a dark color, the letters on it are gray--is there a way of controlling the default color for the letters of the content so to provide greater contrast?

Please turn off maintenance mode so we can have a look on it once again an see if this could be easily done.
