How many photo's can be displayed at one catagorie?

i'm wondering how many can be displayed at one catagorie at my homepage?

I set portfolio at the homepage with catagories ''all'' - ''macro'' - tekstphoto's - black&white and displayed photo's from the medialibary at each catagory.
Each time i reach more than 9 photo's some earlier photo's will not be displayed in their catagory.
Is there anywhere a setting to resolve this?
