Magnific Popup

Hi

The removal of Pretty Photo and enrolling Magnific Popup instead has worked fairly painless with me. I like the new plugin much more then the previous.

However I can't find any documentation on how to use it. It would be nice if you could include it in documentation.

How can we change the settings for captions, mouse-over effects, padding etc etc. Please send us some infor ASAP.

Cheers

  • Hi,
in theme options>addons&plugins>addons you can see settings for the plugin. The rest is done by custom css or changing the scripts.js manually.
    thanks
  • Hi

    Thanks for the quick response.

Ok so I take it CC and JS stuff is not part of BeTheme's support?

  • We can help you with some minor css changes. What would you like to change?

    Hi again.

Thank you very much, that's very nice of you.

Here is the list of things that I'd need:
    1. Masonry layout for the gallery so that the horizontal and vertical images have same height. This is needed in order to avoid gallery that looks like this: http://imgur.com/a/pyDq9
    2. Thumbnails in gallery have a zoom function on mouse-over. I'd like to remove that
    3. On gallery thumbnails I'd like to display mouse-over I would like to be able to display Caption or Alt Text. Preferably with a Google Font of specific color, size and alignment.
    4. The open full-size image should also be able to display the Caption or Alt Text underneath the image.
The current gallery code looks like this:

    [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="large" ids="375,400,370,392,378,371,461,910"]

I hope you can help me with this.

Thank you in advance and thank you for a great theme.

  • Hey, we told you minor changes. These are not minot changes at all.
    1. Cannot be done.
    2. Send a link and point to the gallery.
    3. You can set the caption in theme options>global>general. Screen: http://prntscr.com/f99bp9
    4. Not possible

By minor changes we meant: color change or font-size.

    Hi again

Ok no problem. Be it that I'm not and CSS expert, it's hard for me to know if the needs I have for this are minor o major CSS tasks. But now I know :-)

Anyway, if some form of masonry view is not possible then Manific Popup is not something I can use, so in that case the other issues from my list are not relevant.

I just wanted to use something that is part of the BeTheme, but in this case I can just use one of the external gallery plug-ins.

I'm just bit puzzled that masonry-view does seem to work fine on your website:

Thanks for feedback and keep up the good work

  • I'm also having issues with masonry galleries with this theme.

Zoran_K in order to make it work, you either need all of your images the same size or find a new plug in. I'm currently using photoswipe.

I'd really like to be able to have a good image gallery option built into the theme as I use this theme for most of my clients websites. But a additional plug-in will suffice.

    Hope this helps.
  • Flag Photoswipe, it's buggy on mobile. Modula is actually quite amazing.

  • Hi hansendaphne

Thanks alto for the feedback That plugin looks great.

I'm using TD Smart Gallery Grid and I'm happy with it but I might give this one a try as well.

Anyway as I said I'm happy with this plugin, but when BeTheme introduced Magnific Popup I thought I might as well use that one because it's part of the theme, but be it that it doesn't work that well, yet, I'll just continue using the TD.

    Cheers and thanks

  • @Zoran_K Please send a link to your page, are you still using the standard gallery or a third party plugin?
  • Hi again

I'm still using the third party plug in. And it looks like I want it to look and it works good. I just thought that it would be a good idea to use a plug-in which is part of the theme.

Anyways - here you can see the page with third party plug-in:
    http://www.sonic-view.com/photo

And here is the test page for the same gallery just using the Magnific Popup. You can see the issues I've described earlier:

  • Any comments on this?
  • There are no issues with our new popup plugin. If you are using some third party plugins with it, it could break but we cannot support every plugin there is.
    thanks
  • Hi again

I know. That's what I described in my message above. 3rd party plugin works great. I just wanted to see if the plugin which is part of BeTheme could do the same.
It couldn't which is fine, but then you asked me for the links to these galleries and I've provided you with them, but never received any feedback. I was just wondering, why you asked for the links.

Cheers and thank you for a great theme.

  • yeah, sorry
Our popup cannot do this, if your works well then it is ok;)
