Changing the order

Is it possible to change the order the portfolio items appear, or will they always appear in the order in which they are made? I tried using the order numbers, and also changing the date, but it does not help. Also when you select a category, the relevant portfolio items do not appear on the same page, even if there are only two of them.

you can change the order in which they appear in theme options>blog,portfolio&shop>portfolio
