action bar with vertical menu (creative header)

Is it possible to get the action bar also when using the vertical menu (Header style: creative: always open)? If yes, how?
I turned on the action bar in Theme options, but it doesn't show up. I'm guessing because of the header style chosen.

We doubt it will happen. You can always create a full width section and add element. It will look like the action bar.
