The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini

I just purchased Be Theme. I'm trying to install it. But it won't upload because I'm getting this message...

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini

Whilst this may not be breath-taking news. It is for me. Because I have no idea where this php.ini file is located on my VPS, and what line I should change, and change to what amount?

Thanks in advance.

  • I added this to the bottom of the wp-config.php and uploaded it. But I'm still getting the same error.

    /** Increases the size of uploads in WP */
    @ini_set( ‘upload_max_size’ , ‘100M’ );

  • That's the problem. If I knew where the PHP.INI file was located. I could probably edit it myself. I search for PHP.INI using File Manager in the Domain cPanel and couldn't find any PHP.INI file. I'm on a VPS. So is this PHP.INI file outside of my Domain cPanel and located somewhere on my VPS Server cPanel? Or somewhere else?

  • I contacted them at the same time as I started this thread. They have yet to respond.
  • Well I am at least now having an email discussion with my host, but our time zones are at least 9 hours out of being synchronized. So it's not an easy communication. Hopefully. They will fix this and reboot my server overnight Saturday. US time. So we will see what has happened by tomorrow.
  • Well the loading of themes and plugins problems appear to have been resolved by my host. Which took almost a week to resolve. But after I loaded the BeTheme, I don't see any of the 300+ website templates. Where do I find these and how do I load my chosen template? Do I load this into the main theme or the child theme, which is what I intend to use.
