PHP Version 7 ?

Hi

I host with GoDaddy managed Wordpress. I have updated the following :

  • PHP Memory Limit

    256 MB

  • PHP Time Limit

    180

  • PHP Max Input Vars 5000

Which are all good. But it is saying I must have PHP Version 7 ? I have never had that requirement before. The issue is I found out that Go Daddy managed Wordpress can not go to PHP 7. I would now have to pay MORE money to go to their "Pro Managed Wordpress".

Is going to PHP 7 absolutely necessary ? Considering I do all my sites with BETheme and never had to do that before and all the sites are working fine.  is this something new with the most recent version of BeTheme 20.8.4 ??

Thanks

  • Hi,
it is always best to update to newer versions of PHP but if your website works fine and there are no bugs then you can use your current PHP version freely. I see many people using version 5.4 and it works fine but for some it causes troubles with the website (mostly caused by plugins)
    thanks
