Theme doesn't seem to be using style sheet
  • Hi,

I have recently installed the theme and started adding content. I also created a child theme which I am using to customize the site. However, even when the parent theme is activated, none of the style is being applied to the site. I have also installed the demo content and it is all present...just no style.

I did not get any errors about the stylesheet being missing when I installed the theme, it just doesn't have any styles applied to it. When I activate the child theme, the styles that I add are applied, but none of the parent styles are.

Can you help me figure out why this is happening and how to resolve it?

  • Yes. I put my custom styles in the style.css of the child theme. But I am not getting any styles at all from the parent theme -- even when I have the parent theme selected as the active theme.

I use child themes all the time and I have created about 10 websites using BeTheme and have never had a problem.... I'm just at a bit of a loss as to why the styles are not getting applied to the site.
  • I have been using BeTheme for the last few years and am very familiar
with the Muffin Builder in BeTheme. The Muffin Builder in Cake seems
very outdated and not at all the same, easy-to-use, and fabulous builder
that it is in BeTheme. I am using version 1.5 of Cake.

Is there a way to get the same MuffinBuilder that is used in BeTheme? Or is it possible that the MuffinBuilder in Cake is also being affected by the stylesheet not being applied to the theme?

  • Thank you for the reply about Muffin Builder.

I have turned off the child theme at this point and am just trying to get the parent styles to show up. I thought maybe it was a problem with an out-of-date php version on the server. I started a new thread with that subject.

Here is a link to the page with the demo content installed and the corporate home page selected.

Thank you so much for helping me with this.

  • I don't understand why the link is not working. I have tried it in 3 different browsers and it always works... Here's a link to the screenshot so you can see what the homepage currently looks like.

Here is a link to the demo home page:

  • OK. I think that is the root of all of the problems. Everything at the hosting server is out-of-date. My client doesn't want to move hosts even though I keep telling them that they need to. When I installed the theme on my sandbox server which is all up-to-date everything is fine.

Thanks for you help. I'll be back if I have problems once I convince my client to move their hosting.
