Social Icons don't show up

I added and activated some social Icons from Layout > Social Icons. I also selected a Menu at the Menu Settings. But they still don't show up. Not at the top right and not in the footer. I use the BE|Politics theme. I tried every thing I can imagine of to let them appear but it didn't worked. 

What can I do?

If you want to show social icons in right top corner, then you shouldn't select any menu in Appearance > Menus > Manage locations section. The select of social menu should be empty.

I tried this now but they still don't show up. I deselected all and deselected one at a time none of that ways worked.
