can't save portfolio page

Whenever I update a portfolio page on a website (based on Showcase demo) it moves me to blog entries instead of saving changes. PHP is on 7.3.1, max input vars at 40 000, WP at 5.2.1, BeTheme 21.2.2.

  • Hey,
that is weird. Could you check first if the portfolio page is not set as a blog page in settings>reading?
Also please try to disable all plugins and check again.
    thanks
  • Hi,

no page is set as blog page. Disabling plugins also didn't change anything.

    Kind regards
  • Hey,

Please send us WordPress dashboard access privately thru the contact form which is on the right side at http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact and we will check what might be the reason.

  • We tried everything possible and it look like it is a redirect issue on you hosting.
Can you please ask your hosting provider to check the server logs for what is exactly going on?

We also ran an update of the theme which disabled your child theme. You shouldnt change the style.css file in the parent theme, you do not have to.

    cheers
  • Hi,
This redirection only happens after some number of elements are present in the creator. If you would remove two column items, then updating would work fine. This likely excludes permanent redirections on hosting provider side, right?
    Kind regards,
  • This is true, after some content has been entered does the portfolio not save.
You have set max_input_vars on your server to 40 000 which is more than plenty but there is an issue on the hosting after a certain number of input_vars is used to save the data to the database.

    Please check your wordpress logs,
you need to enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log to check it. Here is a website describing how to do it. After you set it up, the error log should be in wp/content/debug.log.
You should save the portfolio normally and then add content to make it redirect, right after that check the log to see what is the issue.

We suggest you contact your hosting provider about this, he will know what to do for sure.
    thanks
