Background colour in categories

Hi,

I am trying to change the background colour of the categories of the blog, displayed on the sidebar. I have tried changing different options on the colors section but nothing worked.

Also, when I select the categories widget for the sidebar, if I mark the option to "display as dropdown", the word "categories" will be displayed twice even if I leave the title box empty.

Any suggestions on how I can solve these issues?
