Update theme

I received an email from envato stating that my be SEO theme needs to be updated. Is there a specific way to do this because they are stating that I need to re download the them from the purchase page and I assume re-upload it. My ? is will this mess up anything by doing so or is there a better way to update the theme.

all details about theme update you can find on http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/documentation/#installation - the best way to update theme is manual method which is much safer then auto update and you always have a control on your site and transferred files.

Hello, I already checked the link you shared above and I already updated the BeTheme to version 16.0.1, on the other hand, my current child theme is version 1.6 and the date on my server files shows 10/15/16 and I'm wondering if I should perform the same procedure to update the child theme?
