Custom Sidebar shortcode

Is it possible to insert a custom sidebar into the page using a shortcode, or will I have to use a plugin for this ?

yes, you can use Sidebar Widget item.

I'm not sure if I made myself clear. I want to insert the sidebar into a column, and not the right or left margin as is customary. I've actually done this using a plugin which gives me the shortcode for the custom sidebar I've created so I can simply insert this shortcode wherever I want.
