Issues with Ultimate Social Media Premium plugin

I'm using the Ultimate Social Media plugin for my buttons for social sharing.
I have tried to implement a custom social media button. The process is straight forward. But there is one problem. https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/uploading-custom-icons/ shows the process. On the 4th screenshot you see a profile of an uploaded facebook button. There is a line "Link URL" that needs to be filled in to connect the button to target website. The information I enter there is not saved and this line is always empty after reopening the profile.
Accordingly the button I have implemented does nothing on my website and the mouseover only shows javascript:void(0)
The plugin support told me that this has to be an issue with the theme. Do you have any ideas how this can be fixed?

Sorry, but we did not test this script/plugin with the theme. Our policy clearly states that we do not support third party plugins and code so unfortunately we cannot be of any help to you.
