Child theme updated?

Greetings,

I recently purchased & installed BeTheme 20.3 and also installed the child theme package. Today, I updated to version 20.4. Question: When the theme is updated, do the installed child theme files also update automatically, such as functions.php? I don't think so, but just making sure. In that case, how would I properly update functions.php, since that was one of the files updated in your changelog?

Sorry if the question is simple, but I'm still learning how BeTheme works, so I would appreciate any tips on properly updating the theme files.
