Minifying files destroys site - what files are safe to minify

When i enable the w3 total cache minify settings my page goes from  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WLcyW5ftUI_uM737YbT1pPDcWHixEKHc/view?usp=sharing to https://drive.google.com/file/d/14vQJbr4uvcQF1qkn-EafFg4G6gAPS0XN/view?usp=sharing  (ignore the repeating menu, that's just my page capture utility)

For my minify settings i'm using Disk, html: minify, js:JSMin, css: minify.

I've already looked through the settings in http://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/1453/w3-total-cache

but that's an older thread.  

Are there specific files that i should avoid minifying? It looks like it's ignoring my css files if i minify.
