    Hi,
    you can register the key on the main domain and use the same key for subdomains as well.
    You do not need a multisite. The rules have changed a bit.

    Can you please point to documentation on how to do this or explain I cold create a subdomain and import a different demo for that subdomain. This would be ideal for testing and combining elements of different demos into one.

    Sorry but we do not know how the process of creating subdomains on your server works. You should contact your hosting provider. When your subdmain is ready install wordpress and betheme, then register with the same key as the parent domain.
