I'm trying to customize certain blog posts to show next and previous posts, or show arrows next to the next and previous post titles. Is there shortcode, or a way to add these on a page-by-page basis, rather than just changing the settings for all blog pages?

you caanot achieve that using shortcodes or items. This is only possible with the default blog and post pages. You can change the header navigation and style in theme options>blog,portfolio&shop
