OK, I have been looking into it a bit more, seems a bit of an oversight that I cannot easily make the background of my blog roll and my single blog posts match the rest of my site. It this feature something that the developers would be able to add to the standard theme files on next update?
We are currently working on Header Builder, so we'll not include big changes in the blog feature in the near future. But after finishing that plugin, we'll surely take a look at it. Thanks
