mega menu : sub menu images and columns

HI, I've tried several plugins without success for making subtle mega menus, with images and columns etc...

Ideally I would keep betheme's css which I trust above all (am I not right ? :), for example uber menu modifies everything by adding classes which i do not find semantically attractive

any experience on this to share guys ? Or would pure css development be a better option ?
