What happens if I DEregister a theme?

I have a site for a client we made. I am ready to hand it off to them...but they are moving the site to a new website host. The theme was bought and registered, but when looking at the license on the page where I manage all your registered purchase codes and domains it says the theme is EXPIRED. However on the theme Dashboard it says it is REGISTERED.

If I DE-register the theme, will it mess up the theme either once its unregistered or once it get REregistered on the new host?

  • Hello,
If you did not make any changes in database, there should be no issues with that, so you can go ahead.

Moreover, to migrate your website, please, use Duplicator plugin, because we used it many times and it never gave us any issues.

    Thanks
  • Tnx. How do I go about transferring the license to the client  for their web hosting so to avoid copyright infringement?
  • Hi,
all of the themes on the envato market are under the same license,
    details: https://themeforest.net/licenses/standard
You can use one license per end product, so you can use any pre-built website you desire or mix them but you cannot use the theme license on two domains.
The only exceptions are for subdomains or subfolders. You can register unlimited subdomains with one license key, as long as the main domain is registered under the same key.
This also applies to subfolder on localhost installations.
    thanks
  • Understood. I want to have them OWN the license and we dont have it anymore. They are no longer a client so I want to give it to them to finish our work. They would be able to use their own login to getb updates for the license... and not use us. How do I do that?

They are taking DOMAIN.COM to another web hosting company and not using us anymore. So we will delete the site once they have it working right on the new web host.
  • If you want to take your license, you have to tell them to buy the betheme for theirself.
The theme must be registered to update the theme or plugins.

I do not understand what you are asking for right now.
    thanks
