Blog post cards height and consistency

edited December 2020 in Blog

Hi,

We need help to fix these issues:

  1. Blog post cards height is changing based on the amount of content inside, can you help us fix this issue? We want to have same size cards on our blog page.
  2. We want to have consistent blog post cards every where on our website and as you can see, the "Related posts" section has a different "Read more" icon, alignment and look and there is no option to make the "excerpt" text visible on this section.

Here is a link to our blog page:

Thank you in advance!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

    1. We know that there is no setting for this section, but we believe that this is a bug or issue that can be fixed from your side in your next updates. Please check below picture to see what the issue is:

As you can see the bottom of the post cards are not aligned and we strongly believe that it needs to be fixed, we like to use this lay out and that would be great if you can help us solve this problem.

2 . For this issue, you can compare this screen shot with the ones below:

If you open any posts and go to the bottom of post page, you can see "related posts" section which has different footer lay out. You can't add excerpt text to them and they have different "Read more" alignment, font size and icon (different look which is not consistence with other post cards on our website. Please check below image:

Thank you in advance for your support!

    1. It will be hard to change that because as you mentioned the height depends on how much content the post has. If one post has a very litte amount of text and the other post has much more, then the post cards would look bad.
    2. To change that, you will have to use Custom CSS Code and put it in Betheme -> Theme opitons -> Custom CSS & JS -> CSS.

    Thanks

  • Hi Phil,

    Thank you for your reply,

    1. You can fix this issue by giving a minimum reasonable height to the card (custom css is not what are looking for) or your team may have a better resolution for that, we believe that this is an issue that your other customers have too, so don't you think you can do that from your side. You don't see this height difference on other website blogs although they have different amount of contents. You can check this blog or screen shot to see what I mean: https://huddle.today/

They have different amount of content but the blog post card is the same size.

    1. We are aware of using custom css and we know how that option works on your template, but don't you think that this is a consistency issue that should be fixed from your side. And just out of curiosity, can you please guide me how to change read more icon by using custom css?! You have two different icons for read more link on the blog post footer (check below screen shot)

And we strongly believe that this section should be fixed from your side and we prefer not to use custom css as much as possible and over write your code, please offer us a resolution from your side.

    Thank you!

  • 1) This is not an issue, this is how that item is made and we cannot change it because it will affect all of the customers websites - some of them like this effect and changing it will make troubles for other customers which are using it.

About the icon, there is no option to change that through the theme options - it's hardcoded, you have to edit the theme files and there change the HTML code of the icon.

    Thanks
