WPML icon box link translations fails

Hello,

I'm working on a website in 4 languages. Unfortunately the links I put in the icon boxes don't translate in wpml even though I use relative links. This means that clicking on a page link (made in an icon box) in French, directs to the Dutch link (original language). Could you help me avoid manually changing the links for +-200 pages?

Many thanks in advance!

Katrien

  • Hey,

Please send us the WordPress dashboard and FTP access privately through the contact form, which is on the right side at https://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact and we will check what might be the reason.

  • The login credentials you sent do not work:

Also you did not attach FTP access.

Please send another message with complete and working data.

    Thanks

  • I'm very sorry, we cannot send you FTP access with the server we use. I just sent a new message through the contact form with admin login.

    Many thanks for responding btw!

  • I created a new page for testing purposes (BeSupport test page), and the translating link in the Icon Box worked correctly.

Are there any particular steps I should take to replicate this issue?

    Best regards

  • @Phil You can see on this page for example https://beclinic.capptain.be/en/plastic-surgery/ that the links on the icon boxes refer to pages on our own website (not external links like you used).

If you click on one of them, you'll see that it refers to the Dutch page instead of linking to the right English page. Same goes for French and Russian. The icon boxes link to the pages in the basic language of the website. In the WPML translator the links were not asked to be translated so I'm afraid I'll have to change them all manually.

Do you have any idea how to resolve this?

    Thanks,

    Katrien

  • I have copied the content of that page to the second testing page, translated it as follows:

    And it works properly.

    How did you translate it?

    Best regards

  • Thank you for taking a look! I'm afraid I don't get the translation option in WPML like you do... See screenshot attached.

  • I opened the translation for French and it appears correctly:

Please try to remove the translated page:

(remember to remove it permanently from trash), and try to make an English translation again.

    Best regards

  • Hello @Phil I'm afraid this won't do it... This issue is not only on the plastic surgery page, it's all over the website a problem. We use icon boxes to link to other pages maybe on 40 of the 80 pages. I'm looking for a feasible solution to not have to translate all those pages again in 3 languages neither manually change the icon box links in bebuilder.

There seems to be something general wrong with the translations. For example this page https://beclinic.capptain.be/fr/chirurgie-plastique/visage/ is also translated but the words don't appear in the icon boxes on the page itself neither do the links appear in the wpml translator here.

Can you please take a look? Is there a translation setting wrong?

    Thank you!

    Katrien

  • On the Betheme side everything seems to be fine, especially as I showed, the translation I made have links correctly showed and translatable.

I suggest contacting WPML support instead.

    Best regards
