Button & Icon Box: Change hover colors

Hello,

I have a CSS question, which I could not find the answer myself:

1. I have a button, it has the default state: white border, white font, transparent background
    Now I want the hover state: black font, white background
    ....But it is "white font, white background" and there is nothing to set these hover colors correctly in the button item.
Can you please tell me the correct css for this?
(And I would need a black version of this... I actually thought it would work with a class "dark" but everything stays white)

2. I would like to change the color of one icon box
    I could make it change the default color...but there are like one or even two hover states and the underline, which I could not change.
Can you please give me the full CSS code for setting icon boxs accent color (link, hover and underline)?
