Is there anyway to lightbox text instead of image?

I searched online and i found a few threads about "shortcodes" but still not sure exactly how to do do it.

Basically if i have an image or a "read more" button, can i lightbox a paragraph of text, or text with image?

is there anyway to change text in the link for popup? for example "click to open Popup" is currenty white on my text, but i need to change it to "black" i tried adding color="xxxxxx" but didnt work.

You can hack it a bit and use a button and a DIV element to display your content:
