how to show the excerpt from content (instead from excerpt field of post), ...

Hello,

i create a new post, add a title, use WPBakery Page Builder, add a Text Block, fill that Text Block with some text, publish that post.

the excerpt is not shown on Blog Page.
  • is it needed that i fill the excerpt field in each single post?
  • is it possible that the content is used to create the excerpt on Blog Page? if yes, what I need to define in settings?
a other situation with Excerpt:
I defined Excerpt Length to be 26. but if i fill a longer text to excerpt field in a single post, the full excerpt is shown. looks like the Excerpt Length is not working if i fill excerpt field for post.

    Hey Gordon,
    in Betheme we show the excerpt fields in posts only using the excerpt field. This is applied to all of the blog items and the blog page. We do not have any other options unfortunately.

    Question: What is about "Excerpt Length" which i can define in Theme Settings, but somehow the excerpt is not limited to that defined length - always the while excerpt which is defined in excerpt field is shown. How I can ensure that the Excerpt is limited to the defined length? (see screen: https://www.dropbox.com/s/15f3p09t060xmge/betheme-screen.png?dl=0)

    Hi,
    Do you use the 'Blog' item or you assigned a blog post through Settings > Reading?
    The theme options settings are only for an assigned page.
    Items usually have their own settings which can be customized by editing them in Muffin Builder.

    Hello,

    I created several Posts, added to them (using WPBakery Page Builder) some Text Blocks and let the excerpt field empty. 

    I created a Page where I added (using WPBakery Page Builder) a "Blog" item, defined (count: 3, Style: Masonry Blog Style, a Category, ..)
    If i open the page, the Images of the Posts, the Titles and the links to them are shown, but no Excerpt of the text.

    Beside that: I created a page and defined as blog post through Settings > Reading. here the same  behaviour if i open that page: the Images of the Posts, the Titles and the links to them are shown, but no Excerpt of the text.

    Please disable all of the plugins, clear the cache of your browser and check if this still happens.

    The problem is: WPBakery Page Builder (Version 5.5.5). After i disabled it, all was shown correct. Any idea how to fix that?

    Did you install some extensions for this plugin?
    Also, is your theme up to date?

    If i disable "WPBakery Page Builder", excerpts (and shortcodes) are shown on https://afcvbw.dev.3s2w.net/neuigkeiten/ and https://afcvbw.dev.3s2w.net/ and https://afcvbw.dev.3s2w.net/cheerleading/ - if enabled, not.

    You have to insert the text into the excerpt field  while editing the post:
    http://prntscr.com/lp0pfu
    It's on the bottom of the page.

    I added a text "Muffin Test - Super." and it works.
    It will not take text from the Wordpress Editor, because you have used a VC shortcodes there and it will not display.
    You have to use the excerpt field.

    Thanks for the feedback. Even if this is not a final solution.

    Plan or wish was to NOT use the excerpt field and to show an excerpt which bases on the with WP Bakery created content - since, like i mentioned in my first posts, it looks like that the Excerpt Length is not working if i fill excerpt field for post. (always the whole excerpt is shown.)

    BUT your feedback is on the other side a solution, since i now know where to search and what to do! Thanks for clarifying and your perfect support - I really appreciate that!

    can you tell me, if i can get somehow the value of Excerpt Length from Theme Options > Blog in functions.php? this would help me much.

    Sorry but we do not give such detailed information, the support does not cover theme files modification.
    But you should in to builder files in the betheme folder.
