How do I change the home page header image?

I have read through the discussions and found a similar question, but when I followed the steps in the answer, it still didn't work.

I would like the change the header image on the homepage, right now it is the stock image. 

I have tried...

1) Going to theme options, layout, header, and minimalist is turned on
2) Tried uploading a background image within the theme options menu
3) Set the featured image

Still, the stock photo will not go away!
