How to find the content of a page that suddently disappeared?

Hello!

ONe of my colleagues was working on a page since 2 days and suddently the content of the page disappeared. We tried to find revisions of the page but we found nothing. Even in the post database, the content of the page is empty. Could you please tell me where is stored the page content when using the page builder included in the theme and how to restore it?

Thx!

  • Hi,

Please provide us with your hosting environment settings, to do that please follow these steps:
    1) Go to the Wordpress > Tools > Site Health http://prntscr.com/nlyb22
    2) Click at the “Info” on the top of the page and open the “Server” tab http://prntscr.com/nlybm2
    3) Take a screenshot of the content inside that ‘Server’ tab http://prntscr.com/nlybyr
Please make sure you are using Wordpress 5.2 or later, previous versions did not have this option built in.

Please use snag.gy or pasteboard.co to host the screenshot and send us the link to it.

All of the content and settings are stored in the database.
But the problem of disappearing content is common and it's usually getting resolved by increaing the php max input vars.
Please do what I asked you to do above.

    Thanks

    Hi,

here is the requested screen : https://pasteboard.co/IskZRC8.png

The max input vars is set to 10000. What is the recommended value?

    Thx!
  • Recommended value is 5000, the 10000 is very weird value because usually all of the hostings is setting up the 1000 or 5000 at the beginning.

Please send us WordPress dashboard access privately thru the contact form which is on the right side at http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact and we will check what might be the reason.

    Thanks
  • Hello!

I am hosting this website on my own server. So I do not think this value is an issue.
For the access, I need to check with my customer to get their approval. In the meantime, is there anything I could check (for ex: checking the db content to see if the content is still there? do you use the post tables to save contents as Wordpress does or do you save it somewhere else?)

    Thx.
  • All of the content and settings are stored in the database.
If it's not loading, that means it's not there anymore - we suggest not to touch anything there because every change there could make your database issued.

For now, I suggest to make a backups from time to time (like two, three times a day) and to reach me when it will happen again, but this time with dashboard access, it's hard to investigate the problem without it.
For making the backups, we suggest to use this plugin:

    Thanks
  • I do have daily backup done with a backup tool external to Wordpress.

If the data are saved to wp_post tables, why is it not possible to see page / post revisions? Is it disable in your theme?

    Thx!
  • I do not understand, you can check the posts in wp_post tables, but we suggest not to do it, because one change there can make your page corrupted.

Also, posts revisions ("Preview" option) is not working and it shouldn't be use in the BeTheme.
    It's disabled by the default.
Is that what you were asking for?
    Thanks
  • I am not talking about preview but about post revision (it means "version"). On a wordpress using a default theme for example, you can see different revisions (versions) of your page. If you do something wrong, you can rollback to the previous version. With your theme, I do not see this option.
  • Sorry about misunderstanding.
We abandoned this functionality, because if we would have to keep it, it could make the database weight a lot bigger.
Also, nobody asked about it yet, but if you would like to see it, you can ask for it in this topic:

    Thanks
