Changes to pages not saving

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as many others. In the last three weeks, any changes I make to a page are not being saved. Update button continues 'updating' but nothing is saving. here is the server settings: [Links visible only for registered users]

Plugins have been updated and jetpack activated.

Please disable all of the plugins, clear the cache of your browser and check, if the issue still exists.

Please provide us with your hosting environment settings, to do that please follow these steps:
1) Go to the Wordpress > Tools > Site Health [Links visible only for registered users]
2) Click at the “Info” on the top of the page and open the “Server” tab [Links visible only for registered users]
3) Take a screenshot of the content inside that ‘Server’ tab [Links visible only for registered users]
Please make sure you are using Wordpress 5.2 or later, previous versions did not have this option built in.

Please use snag.gy or pasteboard.co to host the screenshot and send us the link to it.

Hey,

please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase your "max_input_vars" and "time_limit" values. Current ones are too small and this is why you experience errors like that.

Increase input vars to: 5000

Increase time limit to: 60

Hi, they made the changes and I upgraded to PHP 7.3 as well, and upgraded the theme to 21.7.3. I've found it seems to be related to images. I have two wraps with two 1/2 column boxes side by side. One has an image, the other has text.

The page gets stuck in a saving loop and freezes when I add a third container (exactly like the first two). Or even if a third wrap with two columns containing only text. I've tried other item types, sometimes it works, but half the time it crashes again. I've rebuilt this page from scratch, checked for unclosed code/tags. I'm at a loss.

Tell me, on which page does that problem appear?

I exported/imported the homepage and I was able to add the text on the end and beginning of the page correctly:

Mostly on the About Us and About page - that is where it started and I created the About Us page from scratch to see if that resolved it. Occurs occasionaly on other pages.

I was able to add 4 columns of text to melodee-services page with no problem. Just tried to add the same type of 4 columns of text to brandie-services page and it is stuck in saving like I see with the about-us page..

It must be some HTML issue, because I was able to edit the about us - I added the text on the beginning and end of the page.

There are issues when trying to add any more than that. I'd suggest trying to add a picture and text like the two women profiles on there. There is a picture of a therapy dog in the gallery I have been trying to add for them. I have basically been trying to add a third profile and have not been able to.

So, I can't even edit the ones you added. I had a software engineer in another state try it and he has the same problem with being able to save. I've tried resetting the permalinks, clearing cache, etc. I am at a loss. Here are some images of the errors I see. From what I can tell in cpanel, the server is not showing any errors.

Please disable all of the extensions from your browser and reset the cache.

Maybe you are inserting a specific item or code?

Please tell us what exactly you are pasting.

I have tried just adding text like "test" into one of the existing items or a new item/element. Even after the text "mufftest". I've tried adding an existing image, column, anything. No special code. Originally I was just trying to add an additional wrap with an image and text column like the two already on there. I've even tried deleting something and it still won't save.

The biggest problem is, that it works on all of our devices and we cannot recreate the problem.

Did you test it on other pc/laptop?

Please tell me, is it stuck on "Updating" or it stops on some step? Does any error message appear?

Any tips would be really helpful.

That is strange. Yes, per my message on June 11, I had another person in another state try it and other pages from his laptop, he had same issue. It is stuck in "Updating". I found the attached 403 error message via "inspect".

Note: I just added an ico-cross.png file. That resolved the issue of it not finding that image. But didn't resolve the saving issue. I'm not sure where the ico-cross image is being called from anyway.

A friend just bought a brand new laptop. Only office has been setup and I tried saving two different pages. Still getting the 403 error.

The 403 error is an error related to the authorization (no rights), you should ask your hosting provider about some logs, he should be able to solve the problem.

We tested it on several devices from several places on different internet and it work fine, I even added more content to the MuffTest page.

We assure, that even if you change your theme to the twentytwenty, your content will not be saved.

The webhost found the exact rule that I was running into and whitelisted it for my account. I am able to save pages again!

Some feedback from the webhosting company:

"Sometimes these security rules can have false positives and they are most likely to happen when you are submitting a form (like editing a post). This is a common thing that happens with WordPress and something the developers should be aware of. They should really be testing on a server with ModSec installed as so many hosts have it and it is likely something in their code is triggering the rule.

In the ModSec system it is rule #340195.
