Child Theme files not overriding Parent Theme files

I'm having an issue with my BeTheme child theme. The style sheet seems to be working just fine, and some parts of functions.php are working, but I'm unable to add custom code to functions, and no other template files I copy over to the child theme are overriding the parent theme files as intended.

I've tested the changes I made to the child theme within the parent theme, and they work just fine there, so I know it's nothing wrong with my changes. Is there a step I'm missing, or something in functions.php I need to add in order to get my other changes working?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

What you ask for, is a theme files customization what in reference to Item Support Policy is not allowed. So if you want to modify files and don't know how, you should contact your web developer. Item Policy says:
Item support does not include services to modify or extend the item beyond the original features, style, and functionality described on the item page. For customization services that will help you tailor the item to your specific requirements, we recommend contacting the author to see if they privately offer paid customisation services or checking out the great service providers on Envato Studio

    thanks
  • I think I have a similar issue. My header.php file in the Child theme are being over-written by the parent theme header.php file. Am I wrong to assume that this is the opposite of how WordPress files should work?
  • Please be sure that your Child Theme is created and configured correctly, follow all of the steps mentioned in the documentation:

    Thanks
