Trouble Updating to New Version of BeTheme from 13.1
Hello,
I am attempting to update from a quite old (13.1) version of BeTheme to the new version. I am attempting to do so manually in cPanel by renaming the current "betheme" folder to something else and naming the new version "betheme" - each time my site goes down with the "critical error" message. I have tried deactivating all plugins then updating and have experienced the same issues. I am running a child theme.
Please let me know what other info I can provide in order to get assistance. Very much appreciate any help!

Did you rename the child theme too?
A child theme could be the root cause too, so do it if you did not do that before.
Also, what version of PHP, and WP do you have?

Thank you for the reply. If I deactivate the child theme by renaming it, and then try updating the theme, it does appear to work (though then my styles are all wrong of course). Does that point to the child theme being the cause of the issue?
I am on WP 6.0.1 and PHP 7.4.30.

Yes, it seems that the changes in your child's theme are the root cause.
I cannot tell what exactly could be the source of this issue because I do not know what changes you have in your child theme, and we do not provide help with the child theme customization.
If you need to use a child theme, you should contact your web developer to investigate what could be wrong.
