Template update with a very old version

Hello, I have received a client who is using the BeTheme template in version 17.8.4 (lapagesa.cat) on his website, as you can see in the attached image. The funny thing is that the system doesn't ask to update the template, I don't know why. We have bought the template again (the company that made the website and bought the template no longer exists) and we have doubts about making the update, because there is a very large version jump. Could there be any problem? What version of PHP does the current version of the template need? Should we be careful about some other issue that can fail?

Thank you, Ángel.

  • Hi,

Indeed it is a colossal version difference. Before updating, I suggest making a backup of your website with the Duplicator plugin.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

The best you can do is create a copy of your website on the subdomain, and update the Betheme there first, so you can check if anything breaks. After that, you can register unlimited subdomains with one license key if the main domain is registered under the same key.

Betheme requires PHP version 7 or higher.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

So, we have done it. We have replicated the web in a directory (https://lapagesa.cat/pruebas), to do the tests. When trying to access the template setting, it asks for the template registration. But if I register here, then does it work when I install the template on the current website?

    Thanks.

  • You can register your license key on unlimited subdomains if it is registered on the main domain.

However, notice that you can use one license key on another domain (that is not a subdomain) if you deregister it, and remove your website.

    Best regards

  • Ok, understood. Thank you.
