Copy/Paste and Export/Import Confusion

See https://support.muffingroup.com/how-to/how-to-import-export-muffin-builder-content/

The documentation talks about exporting and importing content, but it seems to be referring to exporting a whole page. From some forum discussions that I've read, as well as my own experimentation, it appears possible to export a single section and import it to another page (copy/paste the string representation). Is this the lowest level of granularity available? For example, if I have a wrap formatted the way I want it, can I select just the wrap and export it? If not, then I guess the best workaround would be to create a new empty section (just a wrap with no content in it), go to the layer navigator, right click on the wrap and select copy, paste it into the empty section, replacing its existing content. I could then export the whole section, copy it to the clipboard, and reverse this process in the other page I want to import the wrap into. Seems a pretty clunky way to accomplish cross-page copy/paste...

  • As a followup question, I'd like to know what format is the text produced by Export? Is it normal JSON, or only similar? I'd like to be able to format it and display it in some structured fashion in a code editor like vim or Visual Studio Code.

  • Ok, answering my own question here. JSON or not, if I paste it into a blank document in VS Code and select "Format Document" from the context menu (i.e. right click in the document), it formats it very nicely. Enough to pick apart and play with, anyway.

  • Hi,

Good to see that you found an answer to your second question. ?

Regarding your first question, it depends if you want to copy and paste your content on the same page or to another. If you want to copy an element, wrap, or section on the same page, you can right-click on an element and use copy-paste options.

If you want to use elements from one page on another, copy the section containing them. Please, check the following video tutorial from 3:30.

  • Ok, I'll check out the video. I'm having a very hard time wrapping my brain around (pun partially intended) "Sections" and "Wraps" and how they affect layout. I understand that Sections are basically vertical container elements, but with the restriction that they can't be nested within anything except a page (i.e. no Sections within Sections). Wraps seem to be able to be nested within each other, and specify, as a whole number ratio, the proportion of the parent container's horizontal space the wrap is allowed to occupy. Man, I sure wish this stuff was documented somewhere, or there was an end user community group for us users to discuss this stuff. Any suggestions for learning some of these basics? Since I'm in a bit of a rush to get some changes done to this site I inherited (mindocloudforest.org), I find it hard to have the patience to watch hours of very fast video of Albert demonstrating somewhat random bits of content (nothing against Albert, he seems a very good guy). Maybe I'm just old school and used to reading stuff rather than sitting through endless video content. Sorry for the semi-rant.
