Fonts & custom CSS does not work when wordpress is installed in "Safe mode" (provider: 1&1)

edited July 2015 in Fonts
HI all,
I searched and studied other dicussions but could not find a resolution.
I started to work with Betheme ([Links visible only for registered users]), but all fonts are shown as Times new Roman.
I browsed for styles.php and style-colorx.php, but neither of them contained a "deny..." as mentioned in http://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/3081/problem-with-style-php-and-style-colors-php-file.
Instead, the seem to contain definitions of a font family (arial, tahoma), font size etc. for H1, H2 etc.
In BeThemes options  - Font section, the styles seem to be set like desired (roboto, Lato). But still site is only Times new Roman.
Pls advise.
Regards
Karin

  • Hi Karin,

the problem is related with server definitely. Try to open this file [Links visible only for registered users] and see what happen. You got 500 Internal Server Error while trying to open this file so you must contact with host admin to verify the problem.

P.S. We got one trick for this behavior http://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/3081/problem-with-style-php-and-style-colors-php-file but it does not work on all servers if this won't help, then contact with admin is necessary.

    Thanks!

    Hi Support,
thank you for your reply. I contacted my administrator / hosting company but they were asking for the exact bug description, as they do not offer help on imported themes.
    - As described above the discussion on "problem-with-style-php-and-style-colors-php-file" did not help.
    - I tried to define own Custom CSS but they are not applied
    - the only thing that works is defining google-font specifics in content section of some of the Items, but this does not work for all (e.g. trailer box: Not able to add Custom CSS)

I told the admin to "Please take care about internal Server error 500 that happens when I try to open [Links visible only for registered users]"
and they responded that this is not their business.
Now I am uninstalling and re-installing BeTheme with various options to see what helps (so don't look for above file from testwebsite4833)

Update: My Provider 1&1 offers a "Safe mode" where updates are applied automatically. Obviously this is causing the problem. When I changed to "free mode", it all worked well.

    Regards
    Karin
  • We're glad to hear that you solved the issue finally. But, by the way, it's amazing that your host tell you that it's not his business. This is ridiculous and if we were you, we would move the site somewhere else definitely.
