Child theme
Recently just made a website but forgot about using a child theme. Now you have updates I don’t want to overwrite what I have done so far. Is there a way to transfer the content I’ve added so far to a child theme so I can update without it making me start from scratch??

You would have to install a child theme and manually move your changes from parent theme.
There is no alternative option.

Is there no way of changing some code to make the parent theme the child and then upload the new updated version as the parent
No, it is not possible, as it would cause many issues and malfunctions probably right after the next update.
The only option is to move your changes into the child theme manually.

The reason I’m saying is I’ve not updated to the latest update but if I do this from the back end of word press is it going to override the work I’ve done so far?
Indeed, that is what is going to happen if you make all changes directly in the Betheme catalog and do not create a child theme.
