Child theme

Recently just made a website but forgot about using a child theme. Now you have updates I don’t want to overwrite what I have done so far. Is there a way to transfer the content I’ve added so far to a child theme so I can update without it making me start from scratch??

I’ve edited images and text really in my site!

  • Hi,

You would have to install a child theme and manually move your changes from parent theme.

    There is no alternative option.

  • Is there no way of changing some code to make the parent theme the child and then upload the new updated version as the parent

  • No, it is not possible, as it would cause many issues and malfunctions probably right after the next update.

The only option is to move your changes into the child theme manually.

  • The reason I’m saying is I’ve not updated to the latest update but if I do this from the back end of word press is it going to override the work I’ve done so far?

  • Indeed, that is what is going to happen if you make all changes directly in the Betheme catalog and do not create a child theme.

    Best regards
