Secret/weird 40px bottom margin

Hello,

I don't know how to showcase this behavior via a image, since it depends on so many things.

I have a really hard centering objects in BeBuilder (both vertically and orizontally). I keep checking padding, margin, vertical and horizontal spacing, setting the correct height, but the object remains uncentered. I also check these settings in all parents — wraps, sections etc. I also check if the wrap heights are the same and use stretch when needed.

After clicking/refreshing multiple times, i get a bunch of green values (and I'm all the time in the same desktop adaptive environment) that specify a 12px right margin and a 40px bottom margin. The objects are multiple BeBuilder elements like contact boxes, images, text, and so on. It applies to everything.

Any previous experience with this?

  • Hi,

Please always attach a link to your website so we can check it out. If the page is offline(localhost), then our help will be limited. You will have to contact us when the page is online. Also, please make sure that the page is not under maintenance before you provide us with the link.

You can also at least try to send a screenshot showing what you need to center.

    Thanks

  • I can give you my credentials, but only in private. How do we do that?

  • sent a email via themeforest

  • Please send us the WordPress dashboard access privately through the contact form, which is on the right side at https://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact and we will check that out.

    Notice!

Please attach a link to this forum discussion.

Sending incorrect or incomplete data will result in a longer response time.

Therefore, please ensure that the data you send are complete and correct.

    Thanks

  • I received your private message, but still you did not indicate what exactly you want to center, and I do not know where I should look at.

  • Okay, I'll try to show if I encounter it again.

Okay so something similar has happened again. I've sent you over email a thorough screen recording where I show the problem and all my settings. Basically, I've created a page and, the next day, all my text headings have a huge space underneath that does not appear in the settings (or at least didn't find it).

This type of random changes have happened to me before: https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/comment/270386#Comment_270386 — here the space, even though reflected in the settings, just wasn't there before.

Back to today's issue, I wonder — did I get a bad/corrupt update? I think i closed the update window by mistake at one point. But this time also, with the heading space, I admit I left the editor open the whole night so, when I reloaded the page, these new spaces under the headings appeared.

Now, these are the things I could report — otherwise, there have been times where active settings appear after checking multiple times, and the best example is the 40px bottom margin on all the objects: I check multiple times—no margin; After checking again—greyed-out (seemingly default) 40px bottom margin that I have to overwrite. I'm sorry I couldn't show this one but it is very hard to catch.

You can find my credentials, video, and respective pages in two emails I've just sent.

Thank you very much for answering all my questions and helping me, this has truly made a difference.

  • I checked the page from your video, and the columns have a custom height set before turning it back to default:

Removing this value and switching back to the default helps.

Do you remember if you (or anyone else who has access to this website) did not set a custom value by accident without erasing it?

  • Okay... Actually, just opened my website today and all my design work is broken. It's really bad... Please... Help.................... I'm sorry if I seem dumb or something, but just take a look because this can't be all just in my imagination. I can struggle to provide some screenshots, but I believe it's obvious. My finished designs were the homepage (Acasă), the about page (Despre noi) and the templates (header, footer and single post/article). I don't know what happens every day when I'm away. I'm the only one who has the credentials to this website, it is not even public.

  • Do not be so harsh. You do not seem dumb.

It seems that the root cause is in the theme options, but to check that, we will need FTP access to your website. Please send it through the contact form as you did with the WP dashboard access.

Additionally, do you remember changing anything in the theme options? Typos, like putting non-numerical characters in numerical fields, could be the reason. If you remember anything like that, please let us know, as it would make locating the culprit faster.

  • You should receive cPanel acces via contact, along with instructions (I have another website on the same server).

I'm not sure about the changing themes. Right now I'm designing the website so I fiddle with settings all the time. But, I want to emphasize that this happened overnight, not as I was working. And this is available also for previous tickets (ex.: https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/78655/slider-category-error#latest, https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/78678/random-space-at-top-of-all-pages#latest, https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/78655/slider-category-error#latest). In all scenarios, I had a well designed site and, the next next day, something was different or broken.

    What I can think about:

    • at one point, I closed by mistake the theme update window
    • I had a couple of times where I didn't close the builder browser window until the next day and after refresh something broke
    • I do enter typos occasionally in the dimensions (or other numerical fields), but I do change them or, most of the time, they autocorrect themselves.

  • Sent just now

  • We checked the FTP access, and unfortunately, we did not find anything that could be the culprit.

I also attempted to restore the theme options revision on your website, but none of the saved ones were correct.

I am afraid that you will have to set theme options again.

We have not encountered anyone with similar problems as you recently, so I suggest avoiding situations you mentioned in your last message, such as leaving the builder window open through the entire night or inserting invalid values in fields.

  • So what now? Okay I'll have a backup from my server provider. And then what? I'll continue working knowing that it can be gone anytime? I saw the bugs and I've issued a refund request that nobody answered. And I figured ok, I have to meet the deadline, I'll just start the project with what I have and hope for the best. But it has been so far a big big waste of my time and I am very late for my client. I've literally used a random spanish theme from themeforest on another site and it had less bugs. I am truly torn and I will have to spend money my client didn't give me for this. And of course you are going to say that I can't get a refund because I downloaded the theme, like I would do anything with it at this point.

  • Regarding the refund I do not handle that, and you should send it thru the contact form, which is on the right side at http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact.

I can suggest creating revisions from time to time in Betheme -> Theme options -> Backup & Reset -> History:

Please note that the theme does not reset by itself. When such things happen, it is due to third-party plugins, server misconfiguration, or using invalid values in the fields.

You mentioned that you left your website working for a whole night, and it could be the reason as well.

I am sorry to hear that such things happened for you, but as I mentioned, we checked it, and everything seems to be fine in Betheme.

    Best regards
