Question about GDPR 2.0 compliance with Google Consent Mode v2 in Betheme
Hello Betheme Support Team,
I am receiving repeated emails from Google regarding the implementation of Consent Mode v2. They state that starting from April 2024, advertisers must ensure that users in the EEA give consent for the collection and use of personal data for personalised advertising. Otherwise, Google may limit conversion tracking functionalities.
We are currently using the built-in GDPR 2.0 option in Betheme on our website, but despite this, Google keeps sending us warnings that we have not yet implemented Consent Mode.
Could you please clarify:
- Is the GDPR 2.0 cookie banner functionality in Betheme fully compliant with Google's Consent Mode v2 requirements?
- Does it integrate with Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics in a way that it sends the required consent signals for ad personalisation and conversion tracking?
- If not, do you recommend implementing an additional CMP (e.g. Cookiebot, Axeptio) alongside Betheme's built-in solution to become fully compliant?
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter to ensure our website remains compliant and we do not lose valuable conversion data in Google Ads.
Thank you very much for your support.
Best regards,
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen,
1) Yes, it is. Compatibility was done according to Google requirements.
2) It's based on Google Tag ID that can be set under Theme Options > SEO
Great, Albert. Good to know. Thank you!
