Query Loop Options Greyed Out in WordPress

Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue with WordPress where the options for editing or creating a Query Loop are completely greyed out. This happens both when I try to modify an existing Query Loop block and when I attempt to add a new one.

I've checked for plugin conflicts and theme issues, but nothing seems to resolve it. I'm using the block editor, and everything else appears to be working fine.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what might be causing the Query Loop options to be disabled or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

Are you editing a regular page, or is it some template?

Do you have the newest version of Betheme installed?

  • Yes, I have the newest version of Betheme installed. I actually noticed the issue with the query loop after installing the new version. I am editing a shop template.

  • In templates (inclding shop) Query Loops are locked to that specific archive type.

It means that if you create a Query Loop in the shop template, then it is automatically set to display products, and that is why some options are grayed out.

  • It won't even let me edit the existing query loop. Is there a fix for that? Or does that mean I can only have one query loop on my whole site and once it is created it can not be edited?

  • I even tried deleting the one query loop I have on my site and recreating it and the option to create a query loop is still greyed out.

  • I need to edit the taxonomies included in my query loop but I can't because that option is greyed out. Please adivse.

  • As I mentioned in my previous message, if you are editing the shop template, then the Query Loop will be limited to the products only, because you are editing the post archive.

You can create multiple Query Loops on your website, but when making them in archives, they are pre-selected to show posts from the editing archive type.

Also, only options related to the type of Query Loop are grayed out, and besides that, it is fully customizable.

    Best regards

  • Thanks for the insight; I will build my shop on a regular page instead of in the archives.
