Main Blog Page Sidebar

How can I add a sidebar to the main blog page? I have turned on the sidebar layout and it says I need to add one yet I appear to have no option in widgets to add to the main blog page, I only have the option to add to blog category pages.

    Yes, that all seams to be the standard way of setting up the blog page, yet I still have no option to add a sidebar to the main page.

    If you created blog page exactly the same way (and you are sure about that course) then maybe you used special characters for sidebar name? WP does not allow to use any special characters like signs, empty spaces and other.

    Without a doubt that's how I set up the blog page and always have set them up that way. How do I add the sidebar to it, at the moment there's just the empty bar there with a note saying I can add a sidebar to it. On the widgets page theres no option to add to the main page, only the categories, and on the plug page itself if I click edit theres nothing under the drop down for sidebar.

    Everything is working exactly as it should, I just can't add a sidebar to it.

    Just gave it a try creating an all new page from fresh and I fall at the first hurdle, I create the page exactly as described and select right sidebar, on the drop downs below that setting there is nothing on the drop down at all.

    I also installed a fresh demo version and it seams you can't add it from the demo version either?
