How do I change the active nav menu item hover background?

Page: http://hydroponicus.com/ I want the background to be dark green whenever menu item is hovered over in the top level of the main menu. It does work for the bottom levels.

for that, you can use:

#Top_bar .menu > li > a span:not(.description):hover { background: #000 !important; }

Okay I am faced with a new problem now, See attached link:

When I am on the active page the menu item goes all white. all i want to do is make green background white text on hover, or when menu item is active

To change background color of active menu item, you need to use extra css:

#Top_bar .menu > li.current-menu-item > a span { background: #044c29 !important; }

OKay, can that be done for the children of each menu item too? (see attached link, the top level menu item still disappears.
