How to update Visual Composer [Visual Composer plugin update]

Can you please tell me how tu update the Visual Composer.

I am still locked down to Version 4.8.1 When I update the Theme all goes well except for that plugin.

sure, we can. All details about Visual Composer update you can find on http://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/1155/wp-bakery-visual-composer-with-be-theme-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin What you basically need to do is:

1st step: deactivate plugin
2nd step: delete plugin
3rd step:
upload the plugin (you have to download the BeTheme update, extract it,
and select the betheme\plugins\js_composer.zip file to upload).

Will deleting the plugin remove all the changes we've made with the plugin?

Edit: I went ahead and deleted and installed the new version of Visual Composer but I am still getting the issue that caused me to update: trying to edit with Visual Composer sends me to an infinite loading page with the Visual Composer logo animation.

Edit again: It turns out it was another plugin interfering. All is well again...

@mikopia No, you won't lose any changes because everything is stored in database. Just files would be replaced with the new one. Anyway, we are glad to know that you sorted an issue.

I just updated to the new visual composer version and my website now looks weird. Some elements seems to add a white space below them like grid items and plain texts areas. Can you give me a hint of how can i solve this?

@muffingroup http://www.gowhere.com.br is the website with updated plugin. The other one is http://www.plasticaebeleza.com.br which has the older version... you can notice that the new visual composer (the one in gowhere.com.br) is changing the css at some point. Can you guys help me with this?

@muffingroup Hello. Thanks for your reply. In gowhere.com.br there is a margin or padding below the elements that are bigger than in plasticaebeleza.com.br. This issue just happens when i update the visual composer plugin. When i uninstall it and revert to 4.7 version, the page looks good again. But when i downgrade to 4.7 version, the visual editor appears BLANK in the worpress admin... i can't edit it since it looks like loading forever.

@romulotebaldi As we can see, the code of both sites is different what means that VC author changed it. Please understand that because we are not plugin's author, we have no impact on it and if you want to have same padding on all sites, you supposed to use Muffin Builder instead because we can not control what author of VC is doing. The only trick we can give you is below css to decrease padding:

.wpb_wrapper > div { margin-bottom: 0 !important; }

Quick question on this. We're using Betheme 10.4.1 for a client, but need to get VC updated and working. Would using the older theme interfere with using an updated version of VC?

I use envato tooltik to upgrade betheme template. I shoud upgrade manually VIsual Composer, as you said in this post or toolkit will do upgrade od this plugin automatically/

@chalamanch Purchase codes (license keys) are not included for plugins which are bundled into theme. It’s because of Themeforest license & agreements. This applies to all themes of course. However, there is no need to use this code because the plugins are fully functional without it. If you want, you can read more details about this on Envato forum:

@muffingroup: is it save to manually update the bundled plugins? I would like to delete the plugin folders under "wp-content/plugins" and then upload the extracted files via ftp.
