Front page summary and blog archive

Hi,

I have two questions about my blog:

1). How can I get summary text for my blog to appear here [Links visible only for registered users]?

2). After adding the 'Archives' widget to 'Blog sidebar', I've found that rather than displaying only what was published in a certain month, ALL blogs I've ever published are shown, including one of them twice (see here [Links visible only for registered users], for example). How can I correct this?

Hi,

1. Wordpress creates content in this place in 2 different ways:
- automatically, based on content in WP editor (you can use Builder >> SEO option and "Hide the content")
- you can use Excerpt field which is under the post edition. Or if you don't have it there, you need to activate it in the right top corner where Screen Options is.

2. You probably did not created Blog page properly. We suggest to look at http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/documentation/#blog where we described how to create blog page properly.

2. As far as I can see, I've followed the instructions correctly. Please see here [Links visible only for registered users] to verify. If we take May 2016 [Links visible only for registered users] as an example page in my archives, it seems that I'm getting the blog front page (the first three images with their titles and (eventually) summaries), and THEN the archive page underneath, all displayed on the same page. The menu with 'Filter by Categories Tags Authors Show all' appears only underneath the front page content. How can I suppress the front page content, so that the archive pages show only what was genuinely published in the month concerned?

2. How the blog page content looks like then? Is the page empty or you put something inside?

If you mean the one post that SHOULD be showing for May, it is not empty (none of the three blog posts I've written so far are empty). If you would like to see what the backend looks like for the May post, please see as follows: 1 [Links visible only for registered users] | 2 [Links visible only for registered users] | 3 [Links visible only for registered users] | 4 [Links visible only for registered users].

No, we are asking, how the content of Blog page looks like. As we wrote in the doc, this page should be empty and shouldn't contain any extra content/items/ nothing. Content for blog page is being loaded automatically and this page should be totally empty. We are pretty sure you have Blog items inside the content of Blog page and that's why content is duplicate.

Thank you, yes, that sorted it! I had a 'blog' item on that page, as I thought that was required to make the blog front page work. I deleted it and it looks fine.

3. How can I now remove 'Filter by Categories [Links visible only for registered users] Authors [Links visible only for registered users]' while keeping 'tags' there? I don't use categories for my blog posts, and I'm the only author. I do use tags, though. If removing the whole line is the only thing that's possible then please tell me how to do this instead.

4. I've disabled comments across the whole site, so how can I remove the '0' that appears on all forward and back buttons?

5. The date seems to be missing from the tops of my blog posts. How can I make sure it shows?

3. To keep tags only, use:

#Filters .filters_buttons li:not(.tags) { display: none !important; }

4. Where can we find those comments on your site?

5. Looks like date is missing because you use different template than Default Template. Templates for posts are set under Post Options > Layout section.

5. This [Links visible only for registered users] is what that section has; it seems that I have indeed used the Default Template.

Actually, I don't know what you mean when you say 'single post'. I also don't know what you are referring to when you say 'post edition'.

That's what you told me in your very first reply, way back at the top of this thread. Unfortunately, it did not help, which is why we got into this long conversation. I have just been to that link again. The word 'single' does not appear even once in that section. Nor does anything like 'post edition'.

In order to check whether the template is set to 'default', are you asking me to check the main blog page, the individual blog posts or somewhere inside BeTheme Options?

It will also be useful if you could tell me what you mean by 'single'.

Single Post is a single post page. If you are in the back-end and you go to Posts > All posts on the left in main wp dashboard, you have list of all posts. And when you are going to edit one of them, this is what SINGLE POST is.

Ok, cool, that's clear and now I understand!! Phew.

Right, so if I go into any of the posts, I do a CMD+F search of the page for 'Template' and there is absolutely nothing that gives me the option of selecting a default template. If we refer back up this thread to what you asked on 31st January, you said "Looks like date is missing because you use different template than Default Template" (which I confirmed I have not used a different template), and then on 1st February you said "We mean Templates that are located under single post editing page". I'm sharing everything that appears under my content here: 1 [Links visible only for registered users] | 2 [Links visible only for registered users] | 3 [Links visible only for registered users].

This thread has become rather long now, so this is just a reminder: we are trying to correct the fact that dates are not showing at the top of individual blog posts.

Please send us WordPress dashboard access privately thru contact form which is on the right side at [Links visible only for registered users] and we will check what might be the reason then because you have so many problems and disappearing things that nobody so far has. It would be much easier and faster to log-in and check what you did there. Please don’t forget to let us know what for the access is.
