custom css ignored after theme update

Hello,

i just updated the Betheme to version 16.7.
Before the update i used 16.6 with child theme.
Inside the child theme i use some custom css edits inside the child theme itself (inside theme design in wp-backend).
After updating the main theme to 16.7 some of these custom css edits are ignored (e.g. look of buttons or margins for checkbox).
I don't understand this behaviour, because these css edits are in child theme and i only updated the main theme from 16.6 to 16.7.

Thanks for your help!
Best Regards
Steffen

  • Hi,

where do we have to look at?
  • edited February 2017
    1)
    Problem 1:
css style in child theme for font-size in "contact-form-submit-button" is ignored.

    2)
    Problem 2:
css style "margin-right" for checkbox "newsletter" is ignored.

Both problems are present since update from Betheme 16.6 to 16.7.
    In 16.6 everything worked fine.

    Thanks!
  • The link you sent above, does not work unfortunately what you can see on [Links visible only for registered users] - it display error 403 only.
  • Right. I thought you are in the USA.
I use GEO-IP on my server and i block several coutries.
In which country are you located? Then i will enable your country temporarily.
  • I just enabled all countries temporarily. Please try again!
See the attached screenshot! The custom.css - edits are ignored in Betheme 16.7.

  • We can see, you have really lot of custom css and to be honest, we don't know what might be the reason. But if any css is being ignored, we suggest to move it into 1st line of custom css because if you did any mistake in custom css, any css's below, won't work.
  • The reason is simple.
On mobile devices the look of the site is sometimes horrible (font-sizes, margins etc.) and on desktop there are some tweaks needed as well.

    Again:
There is no mistake in custom css. When i delete all css modifications, the button font-size is extremely small anyway. So i have to tweak it.
Before updating the main theme to 16.7 these custom css edits are accepted by the theme.
After updating to 16.7 they are not accepted.
So there has to be something in 16.7 that ignores custom css edits.
  • I found a solution now. It works now.
    You can close the ticket.
    Thanks!
  • Great! But could you share with other users what was the reason exactly?
  • I had to put these two css-modifications at the top of the custom.css.
I don't understand why, but if it's at the beginning of the file, then it works.
    You suggested this before.
But does this mean, that below is a mistake somewhere in custom.css?
  • Yes, this means you did something wrong below and that's why any css's below the place where you did a mistake, does not work.
