Page loading problem: header/menu and background image

I've started building my first page (http://zorzstudios.com/home/) with Muffin Builder and it is my first experience with it. I wonder if I am doing anything wrong: I barely placed any content there (background image, one text image and a text box) but the loading time is bad. The menu and the background image (under 500K in size) display with a significant delay, much slower than in your demos. A similar experience is with my blog page: http://zorzstudios.com/blog/ so it may not be Muffin Builder.

I tried activating static CSS option as suggested at the end of your documentation but didn't notice an improvement. Any suggestion, please?

  • Well, they delay may be cause by too large images. Try to decrease them using tinypng.com for example. The rest is mainly the hosting fault, it depends on how fast your hosting is.

Thank you for your suggestion, will look into it as well.

I went to Pingdom's page speed test and discovered a number of culprits collectively caused by my plugins. Deactivated all, speed tripled, but then had to re-activate some plugins, being very selective and eliminating non-essential ones. Although the speed decreased compared to the no-plugin state, it is better now.
