Question 1:

Can I change the Home-Link in the breadcrumbs to link to a custom ID in a single page section?

Question 2:

Are there options to change the colour and size of the date shown in the timeline style?

Hi,
1. No you cannot do this.
2. Use this css below. Change the size and color

.timeline .date_label {
	font-size:12px !important;
	color:red !important;
}

But when I increase the font size it starts to overlap with the graphic. Can I increase the gap to the right?

Sorry but this element is build this way, you cannot really increase the font size too much

Are there options to change the size of the title in the timeline style?

I know the title is a h3 but even changing in theme options it does not reduce the size.

It does not change because you are using a cache plugin to mimify the css which is not smart when you are building a website. Those kinds of plugins should be activated when the website is ready to launch.
Here is the css if the h3 would not work from theme options

.timeline_items > li h3 {
	font-size: 30px !important;
	line-height: 35px !important;
}
