I am desperately trying to find an answer on this. I know it might not be your territory but if you have any clue, please let me know.
Nothing about it on Google. I also wrote Pinterest.
When I paste the url of my blog post in pinterest, selected one of the images it retrieves (featured image and more) and click save (to a board), this notification appears: "Sorry! This site doesn't allow you to save Pins."
