Pingdom: Javascripts + CSS, bad score even on blank page

Dear BeTheme Team,

we´ve recently looked into optimizing our betheme site and started to look at our pingdom and google page insights grades.
The results were not good and while I know that your betheme demo sites scores well on pingdom, I hope you can explain what´s wrong with our site?

I even created a blank page (only title filled in backend) for these tests and still get a pingdom score below 70.

The test fails on:
- Combine external Javascript
- Combine external CSS
- Parallelize Downloads across hostnames
- remove query strings from static sources

Any help appreciated. Thanks

P.S.: why do pages that for example don´t use a revolution slider, still need to load all related javascripts? - is that a wordpress problem?

Hi,

we have checked, and this is definitely not a blank page. This is a regular page with lots of plugins installed and activated. WordPres loads plugins always when are installed and active (except plugins that comes with theme, you have some 3rd party plugins active like Convertplug). So if you have a plugins that you don't use/need, you should disable them under Plugins section.

Anyway, if you will open our demo in pingdom tool https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/crPpQt/http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/ you will realize that theme is definitely not the reason. BeTheme is very fast and was well optimized and as you can see, it loads under 1 second with all included plugins like Slider Revolution, wpml or media (images, videos, etc).

P.S, If you want to combine files, you should use cache plugin like W3 Total Cache.

Hi,

thanks for your reply and ongoing great support.

With "blank page" I ment no muffinbuilder content - just menu+footer and no content inbetween.

So basically the minimum page-output of our WP/Theme setup.

Yes, we have only 2 plugins which are not part of BeTheme:

- convertplug
- flowflow

In "exchange" I deactivated 2 BeTheme Plugins we don´t need:

- layerslider (deactivated)
- visual composer (deactivated)

- wpml (not even installed)

Still the results are not good... or even weird.

Depending on which server I choose for our homepage the results are either good (93) or bad (71):

While I understand different locations have different loading times, I do not understand why combining external javscripts, combining external CSS and remove query strings from static ressources is a concern in Texas but not in California !? :-b

Also how can you remove theme versions queries "?ver=15.9" from all css calls?

The "blank page" gets a low score (74) as well - you think this is only because of the two plugins flow flow and convertplug?

We do not know why your website gets a lower score. Maybe its the hosting, or the plugins, or the media files. TO remove the version queries you could install a cache plugin, but you have to configure it well.

Alright, I will deactivate those two plugins and see if/how that affects the score.

About version queries - you don´t seem to have those "problems" on your demosite. Is that because you are using W3 Total Cache?

I can highly recommend wp rocket. My site had earlier bad scores in Pingdom. Then I moved my site from Apache to LiteSpeed, and activated wp rocket. After that my scores in Pingdom is amazing.
