It turns out the issue is something to do with Cloudflare. I 'paused' Cloudflare and the site immediately started working again. So please may I go back to the original question at the start of this thread?

When I downloaded the zip folder from ThemeForest just now, I could not find any plugin files inside it.

Version 17.8.5. I think ThemeForest used to send me alerts that a new theme was available, but they stopped coming, even though I'm still paying for support. There is also no alert within my WordPress dashboard.

Hi, Thanks. Do you mean Appearance > Install plugins? The only plugin listed there is Layer Slider; it's Slider Revolution that I want to update, not Layer Slider.

Thanks. I can see from wp-content > plugins > revslider > revslider.php that I do in fact have version 5.4.3.1. For some reason, it's reporting wrongly on the Slider Revolution dashboard.
