Adding Social Icons to the Header
  • Hi,

    I would like to add a Tumblr icon to my header at  I somehow figured out how to add a new icon (now I don't remember which php file I edited -- can you remind me how this is done?), but it is just a generic "globe" icon.    Can you provide instructions for adding new social media icons/links to the header, and also specific instructions on how I can replace that globe icon in my header with a tumblr icon?

    thank  you.

    <?php if( mfn_opts_get('social-tumblr') ): ?><li class="tumblr"><a target="_blank" href="<?php mfn_opts_show('social-tumblr'); ?>" title="tumblr">D</a></li><?php endif; ?>

    Not understanding if you misspelled tumblr or if the icon pack uses a different spelling, I just added this:

    <?php if( mfn_opts_get('social-thumblr') ): ?><li class="thumblr"><a target="_blank" href="<?php mfn_opts_show('social-thumblr'); ?>" title="thumblr">D</a></li><?php endif; ?>

    It still didn't work, as you can see if you go to :, the tumblr logo still does not show up. Can you provide specific instructions on what code I need to change or add and where?

    I also just noticed that the facebook and twitter icons are pointing to instead of the URLS for the pages that I entered in "Theme Options -- Social Icons" panel.  Why wouldn't these be working?  Should I open a separate thread for this?

    thank you

  • Hi, yes, that helped me figure out how to get the tumblr icon to appear.  I still don't know why the twitter and facebook icons aren't linking correctly.  Could it be because those URLs are https instead of http?  And if so, what's the fix?

  • I did paste the whole link.  I've tried it with http, https, and without (  Any other ideas or suggestions on why it's not working?

  • Hey guys,

    I am having the same issue with my Facebook and Google + icons not linking. I am "Copy and Paste" the URL directly from source, and they just show a link to the default home page.

    What is odd is that they work on the bottom row of icons, but not the top?

    All other loaded icons, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube link correctly on both bottom and top icon sections.

    No out of ordinary plugins are being used (Yoast SEO, Google Analytics, that is it so far).

     Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

  • Hey, thanks for the response. I found out the 'issue' was that my logo, although 'transparent', was blocking the icon links. So even though I could see the icons, the links were being overridden by my logo.

    My temporary solution was to remove the clients email address, so the icons were not pushed over into the logo area.

    Is there an 'easy' way of adding an email Icon to the header area? I did that with the office location, so I would imagine I could use something similar for an email icon as well?

    Here is the preview link:
  •  mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:
    "Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;
  • would this work if put in the header:

    <!--?php endif; ?--><a target="_blank" href="mailto:[email protected]">" class="button button_small button_" style="margin-top: 20px;"&gt;Email Us<i class="icon-envelope-alt"></i></a>
  • Got it figured out. Again, the issue was with the logo blocking the icons. Made the email addy an icon, and now looks great!

    Thanks again ;)
